WHAT WE DO
Our goal is to create a managed public place embracing green infrastructure and ecological principles for expanded outdoor recreation and environmentally-friendly activities during all seasons.
Lakeside Norway is situated on 5 acres and along 2400 linear feet of lake frontage on the eastern bay of Lake Pennesseewassee (the historic sites of CB Cummings Mill and the Norway Packing Company) at the Gateway of Norway Downtown. Our planned site renovations will utilize green infrastructure techniques and resilient landscaping in a built environment, supported by the design and engineering expertise of Sebago Technics, Inc. The renovations and improvements will be tailored to ecological principles, responsible and sustainable business practices, healthy living, education, community-building as well as good fun and entertainment.
Our entertainment events will range—both indoors and outside—from intimate catered evenings with live music to festivals, stand-up routines, meet & greets, outdoor films and live theater, education-based activities, waterfront activities (from kayaking to ice skating), demonstration areas regarding green landscaping and sustainable building practices, as well as offer a venue for weddings and private events.
MEET THE TEAM
Jason Shiers | Director of Operations
In 2008, Jason founded Pleasant Hill Property Services, LLC, which has since grown into a successful boutique landscape company in Western Maine that primarily focuses on outdoor living projects on Lake Pennesseewassee and the neighboring ponds. A recent Pleasant Hill installation was featured in the October 2020 issue of Decor Maine magazine. In 2019, he served as the GC for the building of The Woods Maine luxury treehouse, a Nelson Treehouse & Supply Project (the star of Treehouse Masters). Jason is an active member of the Maine Landscape & Nursery Association. Since 2017, he has been a member of the Steering Committee and Production Staff for the Maine Flower Show (the largest home and garden show in Maine). In the show’s inaugural year, his landscape company partnered with O’Donal’s Nursery & Robin’s Nest Natural Pools; their display garden won multiple awards. Jason is committed to furthering his knowledge and expertise in green infrastructure, sustainable landscaping practices in watershed areas and resilient landscaping in built environments through certification programs at the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens.
“I deeply care about this small rural town, Norway, Maine; I care deeply about the health and beauty of our local lakes and the local economy. I see my vision for this historic property as something that will successfully benefit both, as well as the community at large.”
